SHOOTING

Cadets will have the opportunity to fire three different weapons throuhgout their cadet career.

They will be taught safe handling of each weapon and principles of marskmanship.  Each cadet will be required to take a test biannually where they demonstrate they can operate the weapon safely.

The three weapons are:

  • Lee Enfield bolt action No 8 rifle (0.22in rounds)

  • L98A2 cadet General Purpose rifle (5.56in rounds)

  • L81A2

Cadets also have the opportunity to train on the Dismounted Close Combat Trainer (DCCT) range.  This is a range where all the rifles are connected to a computer and everything is electronically monitored including the way the cadet is holding the weapon, their accuracy when firing and whether they do the correct drills when they should do them.  The picture above right is of the cadets on the DCCT.  It is like a giant game of Call Of Duty but so much better as cadets actually learn valuable skills from it.
